Miatas at Mazda Raceway 2012

The first Miatas at Mazda Raceway - called "Miatas at MRLS" - was a two-day event that ran on March 21-22nd, 2009 as a 20th birthday party for the Miata. The second event was held in 2010.

The Miatas at Mazda Raceway is back for 2012 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on March 31-April 1 with Mazda's help.

The goal of this event is to have a fun, safe, exciting weekend with something for everyone. The event is restricted to Miatas only. Two full days of track time with nothing but Miatas in sight.

For more information, check the Miatas at Mazda Raceway website.

Premium RX Plug

The new NGK Premium RX plug is a next-generation spark plug with a maximized total performance.

This plug uses ruthenium containing central electrode. Premium RX plugs generate higher power, consume less fuel and last longer than iridium plugs.

Since this plug is not yet available in U.S., I ordered through Amazon Japan.

Miatas at MRLS 2011 Cancelled

Quote:

This is the email I was hoping not to have to send to everyone this year.

I regret to inform you that we won't be able to hold the Miatas at MRLS event in 2011. Ultimately it all boiled down to scheduling conflicts -- there are only so many weekends available each year at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and even though we (and more importantly Mazda) did their level best, we just weren't able to get a weekend this year. It's the downside of trying to fit our event in at such a world-class venue.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that we have been assured that our event will get higher priority next year, and have been promised a date in the first half of the year. So please don't give up hope! The way I look at it, this just gives us the chance to plan an even bigger and better event for 2012!!!

I'm sending this email to my whole "list", but would very much appreciate if all of you would help in spreading the word on this -- I don't want anyone to be left out. We are truly a grassroots group, and it is the wonderful network of Miata enthusiasts and friends that have made this into such a hugely popular event.

Thanks once again to all of you for all your tremendous support and feedback as we've grown this event. I'll let you know as soon as we get a firm date, and look forward to seeing all of you again in 2012!

Best to all,
Rick

Raybrig Multi Reflector Headlights

The right headlight was burned out and I decided to install the Raybrig Multi Reflector Headlight.

With this Raybrig Multi Reflector H4 Round Housing replacement, you can change out the H4 bulb anytime without replacing the whole unit.

This unit is perfect for the NA Miatas. My Raybrig Multi Reflector Headlight comes with a tinted Blue lens and a Raybrig Clear High Power H4 halogen bulb.

Raybrig is a brand of Stanley Electric Co., Ltd. You can expect Japanese high quality material and craftsmanship.

900,000th Mazda MX-5

Total production of Mazda MX-5 (Mazda Roadster in Japan) reached 900,000 units on February 4, 2011. This significant milestone was achieved 21 years and 10 months after mass production of the first-generation MX-5 commenced in April 1989.

The MX-5 was initially certified by Guinness World Records as the world's "Best selling two-seater sports car" when production reached 531,890 units in May 2000. Guinness updated the record when production passed 700,000 and, later, 800,000 units. Currently, Mazda is reapplying to Guinness World Records to have the record updated to 900,000 units.
