Today, thousands of Miata fans were converging at the world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA for celebrating MX-5's 25th anniversary.

Tom Matano Autographed

Autographed by Tom Matano, the legendary designer of the first generation Miata (NA).

As a Chief Designer at Mazda North America, Mr. Matano created the original design of the NA Miata and FD3S RX-7. He later became Vice President of the Design Division and Executive Vice President of Western Operations for Mazda R&D North America, and Executive Designer & Director of Mazda's North American Operations.

Mr. Matano is a committed educator, and uses his immense knowledge and experience to enhance the Industrial Design program at college. He is now Executive Director of Industrial Design at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.

Catalytic Converter Changed

The Miata did not pass the smog check and it was because of the bad catalytic converter. The catalytic converter (CAT) is a device installed in the exhaust system to significantly reduce the emission levels of hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

The CAT is a catalyst and it is designed to function for a limited time, and require replacement. How long a vehicles CAT will last depends on how completely the engine burns fuel before presenting it to the CAT and also on the quality of the CAT. I chose a factory OEM CAT in hope of lasting for next 10 years.
